The Travelling Gallery Team
The Travelling Gallery has the advantage of a strong, committed staff who are passionate about the Travelling Gallery and work coherently as a dedicated team. As well as their own areas of responsibility, all members of the team regularly drive out to where the TG is touring and give talks on the exhibition to groups and individuals visiting the exhibitions.
The core team currently includes a full-time Curator, a part-time Education Officer, two Administrative Assistants (who share a job) and 2 Driver Guides. Volunteers are also involved when the gallery is on tour.
TG Curator, Alison Chisholm attended both Chelsea School of Art and Glasgow School of Art where she graduated in 1990 with a BA (Hons) Fine Art.

She started working for the Travelling Gallery in 1993 when the service was still part of the Scottish Arts Council and continued there until the service was transferred to the CEC in 1997.
During this time she curated the TG exhibition SWARM which included 34 Scottish contemporary artists. Alison continues to curate the Travelling Gallery exhibitions and has overall responsibility for the service.
TG Education Officer, Jo Arksey studied at West Nottingham College of Art, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Winchester School of Art, where she graduated with an MA in European Fine Art. She has substantial experience in gallery education with participants of all ages and abilities.
She began work with the Travelling Gallery in 1997 and has since devised and run an ambitious programme of artist-led workshops and events to complement TG exhibitions. The TG has won 3 SAC/Engage Scotland Education Awards under Jo’s guidance. Jo also continues her own arts practice and makes sculptures and installations from handmade paper.
TG Driver Guides, Arthur McKenzie and Kevin Pearson
drive the Travelling Gallery vehicle throughout Scotland and are responsible for its security while on tour. They give talks on the exhibition at schools and public venues and are also considerably involved in the installation of the exhibitions.
Arthur joined the Travelling Gallery team in August 2006, after a thirty year career in the retail furnishing business, supplying bespoke contemporary furniture. He has considerable driving experience and skills, and he also has a keen interest in art. Arthur's big passion is for old Land-Rovers and he is always on the lookout for interesting examples while on tour with the gallery!
Kevin joined the Travelling Gallery team in April 2007, after a varied career. Kevin is keen on the outdoor life, especially hillwalking in the Scottish mountains. He enjoys the theatre and has been interested in art since visiting the Glasgow Museums and Art Galleries as a child.
TG Assistants Vicky Konieczny and Sheila Capewell share the post of TG Assistant. They are responsible for organising gallery tours, providing gallery staff and volunteers with administrative support. They work with venues and local authority hirers to plan and promote the gallery’s visits, collate feedback and statistics for hirers.
Vicky studied at Edinburgh College of Art where she graduated in 2000 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Tapestry.
Sheila joined the TG team in 2010 after 16 years as an administrator with a Scottish traditional music community education organisation. She has had a life-long interest in the arts and crafts and enjoys visiting the varied villages and towns where the Gallery takes her.
